How to Properly Clean Quartz Counters
As the pace of new home sales increases across the United States, more real estate listings are highlighting quartz materials as part of their property descriptions. From countertops and shower stalls to flooring and fireplace surrounds, the demand for quartz has grown substantially and is poised to overtake granite in terms of popularity. Thanks to new fabrication techniques, quartz can be manufactured to resemble even the most exotic natural stone, and the strong demand for this material has also resulted in lower prices.
Caring for quartz countertops is generally easier than caring for marble and granite because there is no need to reseal the surface. However, quartz should be cleaned periodically following the recommendations below.
Use the Right Cleaner
Similar to natural-stone, quartz may not react well to certain household cleaners. The best approach is to use a cleaner that has been specifically formulated to clean and shine quartz surfaces. Granite Gold Quartz Brite® has an adequate pH balance and does not contain phosphates or ammonia, and it can be safely sprayed onto counter surfaces and gently dried with a cloth or paper towel. After spraying the quartz cleaner on counter slabs, the surface can be buffed using a lint-free cloth, particularly of the micro-fiber type. If the countertop has a glossy finish, a luster can be brought out by means of buffing the surface until it shines.
Clean Regularly
Even though quartz is more durable and resilient than granite, it is not completely impervious to staining, scuffing, and scratching, and it does not eliminate the need to clean regularly. The longer a stain is left unattended on quartz surfaces, the greater the potential of a permanent mark. Quartz counters should be cleaned after every meal.
Avoid Using Things That Could Damage Quartz Surfaces
The durability of quartz should not be pushed to its limits. Scouring pads and sharp objects should be kept away from quartz counters. In the kitchen, cutting boards and hot pads should be used to protect the surface. All the same, spills must be wiped as soon as possible and the grout should be cleaned properly. If you don’t know how to clean grout, the process is fairly simple. The grouting of quartz tiles can be cleaned with Granite Gold Grout Cleaner® and a soft brush. In the bathroom, hair dye and makeup should not be allowed to dry and harden on quartz counters.
