Coryanne Ettiene Tackles Spring Cleaning

Coryanne Ettiene Tackles Spring Cleaing

The moment we can finally open the windows and get a slight hint of fresh air in the house is the moment when the gloves come on in our home. I must admit, I often bite off more than I can chew when it comes to spring cleaning. I find myself buried under a cleaning list a mile long, a house torn inside out, and no energy to put it all back together. So this year I am tackling my spring cleaning with a more sensible, measured attack, taking it in steps to work from the inside out to ensure that no corner goes unnoticed, and that at the end of it, I am still standing.

Rather than looking at spring cleaning like an all-day event, I am taking a deep breath and mapping out a season of cleaning starting with the busiest room in our home – the kitchen. Not just physically the center of our house, it is also the center of our lifestyle, if there is one room that needs a good clean, this one is it. I’ve given myself three days to tick off every aspect of my two-part cleaning list and in order to get it all done and keep the family fed, I have big plans to hand my husband a full tank of propane for the grill, and banish everyone from the kitchen while I sort, repair, clean and organize every corner. With a kitchen full of natural stone floors and counters, I take this time to disinfect, clean, seal and polish the entire kitchen, taking great comfort in the fact that I have not only cleaned my kitchen but maintained it.
